New Conversation Program for American Sign Language Students

November 04, 2016

The upper school has started a new program for American Sign Language 3 students called Weekly Conversation Partners. Each week, ASL 3 students will be assigned a partner with whom to practice for 15 minutes. Sometimes they will be given a prompt while other times they will have more autonomy. Students can talk about whatever they want during the 15 minutes, provided they communicate with ASL only and not their voices. The goal of the program is to facilitate the use of ASL outside of the classroom and to foster greater fluency in the language.  Although it is only being offered to ASL 3 students right now, the program may be expanded to other levels of ASL in the future.
