MMFS Upper School Volleyball Season Wrap-Up

November 01, 2018

By Coaches Soo Mee Kaas, Amin Linder, and Holliday Harrigan

The MMFS upper school volleyball team started this season with three veteran players and eight first-time players. As a new team with very little experience, we concentrated on working towards specific goals that would help each player become an asset to the team. Some players were asked to specialize in certain positions, while others focused on passing and serving. Every team member contributed.

Over the course of the season these players learned the fundamentals of the game, how to work together, and how to play as a team.  As a new team, this was a season of firsts: Sarafina’s first year as captain, Natascha’s first block during a game, Sophie’s first serve over the net, Caroline’s first time on a volleyball court as a player, Rin’s first dive on the court to get the ball, and Michelle’s first hit during a game. We also asked others to transition to new roles: Charlotte became one of our main setters, Faith became one of our main passers, Sofia became the defensive specialist waiting for the hard spike, and Gabby became our jack of all trades.

We want to make sure to thank our senior team member, Jasmine. She led the team with her spirit and passion.  Jasmine was always ready to play and her enthusiasm pumped up the rest of the team. We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors!
