Middle School Thespians Hit the Boards in “Once Upon a Mattress”

April 26, 2019

Putting on a show is such a wonderful experience for students. Onstage or backstage, they explore untapped talents, enjoy camaraderie with castmates and crewmates, and develop maturity through hard work and dedication. Middle School Head Teacher Suzanne Leake selected the musical Once Upon a Mattress for this year’s production, and nearly HALF the middle school student body participated, with more sixth graders than ever! Auditions took place during the second week of the school year and by October there were two to three after-school rehearsals a week for learning lines, blocking, music, and choreography, and to design and tech the show. All the moving parts finally came together this week with two performances before packed houses. Suzanne is proud to share that the cast and crew were “elated” and “felt like professionals” as they performed for family and friends, who responded with tremendous ovations. Bravo to all!
