Upper School Faculty Presents at NYSAIS “Teaching with Tech” Conference

Three upper school teachers recently presented at the New York State Association of Independent Schools Teaching with Technology Conference. Head English Teacher Candace Holmes offered a workshop called “It’s Lit(erature)!: Teaching English with Google Docs.” The workshop focused on using Google docs to promote student engagement, collaboration, and critical thinking. Candace taught participants about the various features of Google Docs, add-ons, and extensions as well as technology-based lessons, Google Classroom, and Google sites. Meanwhile, Head Science Teacher Seth Kahn and Science Teacher Aaron Kokotek gave a presentation on making podcasts to reinforce textbook learning. They showed participants how to use Screencast-o-matic to create the podcasts and shared some of their own. The conference offered our faculty members an opportunity to share their expertise, advice, and innovations with the greater NYC teaching community.
