This year, 31 MMFS students crossed the stage to receive their high school diplomas. Looking back on the journey of these students, I am so moved to think of how far they have all come. Each student first entered our doors from a different place, but one thing they all had in common was that they had experienced struggle and feelings of failure due to their learning disabilities. At Commencement, I shared with them this Japanese proverb: “Fall down seven times, eight times get up.” This sentiment of commitment, resilience, and willingness to learn from mistakes is exactly the spirit of MMFS.
MMFS Class of 2018 student speaker, Jonathan, assured his classmates that “…even though we will be in different places, Mary McDowell [MMFS] will always keep us together.” As our alumni body continues to grow, it is so exciting for me to hear of the different paths our graduates are taking. Some have already completed college and entered the workforce! It is with immense pride that I share with you the complete list of college acceptances and matriculations for the MMFS Class of 2018, here.
I hope you all enjoy a wonderful summer.
