The school year has just started, but it’s already time for our seniors to start planning for life after MMFS. The college guidance team kicked things off on Wednesday with College Night for Seniors, which was held in person for the first time in two years. Director of College Guidance Amy Salomon-Kohn, College Counselor Amanda Toomey, and Social Worker Samantha B.G. Gordon are experts in guiding seniors through the daunting process of searching for and applying to colleges. At Wednesday’s event, they laid out the timeline from applications and interviews to acceptances and final decisions before an enthusiastic audience of seniors and their parents or caregivers. They answered questions, reassured anxious students and parents, and encouraged everyone to regard this process as one full of possibilities.
Last week, MMFS hosted representatives from Marist College, Trinity College, Lynn University, and Savannah College of Art & Design, all of which have accepted MMFS students in the past. Many more colleges and post-secondary programs will be sending reps to MMFS in the coming weeks.
