Fine and gross motor sensory therapy at MMFS focuses on strengthening skills for academic learning. Fine and gross motor sensory support is integrated into the classroom to help students who may have fine and gross motor, sensory processing, organizational and/or attentional issues to reach their full learning potential.
Specialists work with teachers to develop strategies for individual students and they collaborate with educational technology specialists to integrate appropriate assistive educational software. Specialists may recommend adaptive equipment such as pencil grips, inflated cushions, ball chairs, standing desks, movement break cards, and tablets to benefit individual students.
Lower school students have access to a sensory gym that is outfitted with equipment that builds muscle strength and endurance and improves sensory processing skills.
