James (Jamie) Steiner enrolled at MMFS at the age of 10. He was a student with us for four years, from fifth through eighth grade. He moved on to another school for ninth grade, as the MMFS upper school had not yet been established. He attended Clark University in Worcester, MA and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in film studies and a double minor in theater and education. Jamie knew from a young age that he wanted to be a teacher. Last year he joined the MMFS faculty in the middle school! This year he is a homeroom teacher in Jones House – the same homeroom he was in as a seventh grader. Jamie shares that although he never thought his path would lead him back to MMFS, he is so glad that it did. Jamie feels privileged to be a member of the MMFS faculty. He shares that the most valuable part of his journey as a teacher so far has been the guidance and acceptance he has received from fellow faculty members. He admits that, during his middle school years, he did not fully appreciate the lengths to which MMFS teachers go to educate students with learning disabilities. He is happy to now witness this work up close and to be a part of it.
